We store almost nothing.
No analytics, no advertising pixels, no tracking cookies, no consent banner - because there is nothing to consent to. This page describes exactly what does happen.
Cookies
No analytics cookies, no advertising cookies, no third-party cookies. Nothing on this site reports what you looked at to anyone.
The cookies we do set, you have to ask for by signing in. One keeps you signed in. A second holds the single word "yes" so the menu at the top of the page can say "My account" instead of "Sign in" - it is the only one this site's own code reads, and it holds nothing else. The sign-in page may set a third that records only that we asked the other shop whether you were already signed in there, so you are not asked twice.
None of them holds your name, your purchase history or anything about what you looked at. Signing out removes them, and if you never sign in they are never set.
There is no consent banner, and that is not an oversight. Consent is required for cookies that track you; a cookie whose only job is to keep you signed in to the thing you just signed in to is exempt, and a banner asking permission for it would be theatre. If we ever add a cookie that is not strictly necessary, this page changes first and a real banner appears with it - one that works, and that you can say no to.
What is stored in your browser
Three small things are kept on your own device, in your browser's local storage. They are not cookies, they are never sent to us, and clearing your browser data removes them:
- your basket, so it survives a reload;
- whether you have already seen the opening animation this session;
- whether you dismissed the "this page is also in your language" bar.
Your email address, if you give it
If you join the notify list, we store the address you typed and nothing else - no name, no profile, no purchase history attached to it. It is used to tell you when a window has a date and when it opens. You can leave at any time, and we do not sell, rent or share the list.
The list is not switched on yet. Until an email provider is connected the form says so plainly and saves nothing; it does not quietly collect addresses in the meantime.
If you make an account
You do not need one to buy anything, and you can find any order without one using its reference and the address it was sent to. If you do make one, there is no password: you type your email address, we send you a six digit code, and entering it signs you in.
An account holds your email address, the orders placed with it, and the points those orders earned. If you save them, it also holds a name, a phone number and a delivery address, so that the checkout can offer them back instead of asking again - you can change or clear them on your account page at any time, and the address is passed to Stripe, who take the payment and the address on every order anyway.
Nothing else. We do not build a profile, we do not record what you looked at, and the account is not shared with any other shop or company.
You can ask for an email when something drops or comes back in stock - on your account page, or by ticking the box Stripe shows at the checkout. It is never ticked for you. Untick it on your account page, or use the unsubscribe link in any email, and we stop. Your address goes to our mailing provider for that and nothing else.
Ask us to delete it and we will, along with the points on it and the copy Stripe holds for offering your address back. Orders themselves have to stay for as long as tax and consumer law require, but they stop being attached to an account.
If you buy something
Payment is taken by Stripe. Your card details go to Stripe and never touch this site or any system of ours. We receive the order, the delivery address and the amount, which we keep for as long as tax and consumer law require us to.
Video and images
Some film and photography on this site is served from media.famepill.com, a storage bucket belonging to the same group. It sets no cookies and runs no scripts. No content is embedded from any social network, so no social network learns that you were here.
Your rights
You can ask what we hold about you, ask for it to be corrected, or ask for it to be deleted. There is no contact address published on this site yet - an inbox nobody is watching is worse than none - and one goes up before the shop takes its first order, at which point this paragraph says how to reach it.
