A box that tells you what it is worth before you buy it.
Boxes like this usually arrive with a sealed bag and a vague promise, and no number
anywhere on the outside.
Ours prints the number on the front. The price is fixed, the categories inside are named,
and the minimum value of the contents is stated at our own single-item prices before you
pay. What is left to find out is which specific pieces are in there, and that is the
pleasure of it.
The shop runs in two directions, if you are wondering. This box comes in. The Friday Box goes out - a weekly drop of British character goods, shipped to Taiwan.
How Box Day runs
One
Box Day
The boxes go out on a date you can plan around, not at some hour that catches you in a lesson. The list gets the date first.
Two
You pick a theme
The From Japan Box, The From Taiwan Box or The Plush Box. Each one names the categories inside and states a minimum value before you pay anything.
Three
We pack it
One curation, packed by hand. Layered tissue, a sealed sticker, and the piece we think is the hero of that box sitting at the bottom.
Four
It arrives with its cards
Every item comes with an origin card - who made it, where it is from, why it is in the box. The discovery is the product.
The three themes
Each one states its own minimum.
From Japan
The From Japan Box
Six pieces or more from small Japanese makers, packed so that at least one of them is a thing Britain has never had on a shelf.

£40+
Stated minimum value inside
What is inside
A gachapon charm off a machine you cannot reach from here
An acrylic standee of somebody's favourite character
A can badge worth putting on the front of the bag
A snack that only exists in one prefecture
Washi tape in a colourway British stationers do not carry
A character memo or letter set too nice to write on
Every box holds at least £40 of goods at our own single-item prices. The categories are named here before you buy; the pleasure is finding out which pieces turn up.

From Taiwan
The From Taiwan Box
Taiwanese illustrators and character makers, in a box nobody else in Britain is putting together.
£30

What is inside
An acrylic piece by an illustrator with a real following in Taipei
A beaded phone charm strung by hand
Sticker flakes and a sack to keep them in
A snack from a Taiwanese maker worth knowing about
A piece of Taiwanese design stationery
Every box holds at least £40 of goods at our own single-item prices. Taiwanese character goods have no home on a British shelf - this box is the shelf.

From Japan
The Plush Box
The collector box. Two sealed blind-box figures from two different Japanese makers, a plush to hang off the bag, and the kit that keeps all three mint.
£50
You pay
£55+
Stated minimum value inside
What is inside
A sealed blind-box figure from a Japanese maker
A second sealed figure from a different maker entirely
A plush keyring charm built to survive a rucksack
A hard protector case so the box survives the shelf
An outfit cut to fit a blind-box figure
Every box holds at least £55 of goods at our own single-item prices. Sealed means sealed - nothing is opened, sorted or resealed before it reaches you, and the protector case is in there so it stays that way.
In stock
No two boxes of a theme are the same. Each one is curated piece by piece, so the shape of it
is fixed and the contents are not.
The box itself
Three ways round it.
Straight onTurned a quarterFrom the side
Brand imagery: our own pictures of the packaging and the plush, made in the studio rather
than shot on a shelf.
Say it plainly
What every box promises before you buy it.
On the front of the box
A minimum value for the contents, stated at our own single-item prices.
The categories that are inside it, named.
One price, with UK delivery already in it.
The difference made up in goods you choose, if a box ever comes in under.
Inside it
Pieces we would put on the shelf individually, not the ones nobody else wanted.
An origin card with every item: who made it, where, and why it is in there.
At least one thing you will not have met before. That is the whole job.
Tissue, a sealed sticker, and the hero piece at the bottom.
The guarantee
If the box misses its number, we make it up in goods.
If the contents of your box do not add up to at least the stated minimum at our own
single-item prices, tell us and we send you the difference in goods - your pick from the
shelf.
Anything that arrives damaged is replaced, and the return postage on a fault is ours.
Separately, and whatever the reason, you have 14 days to change your mind about the order
under the distance selling rules. The
delivery and returns page sets both out in full, including the
sealed-item exception that applies to anything blind-boxed.
The film
What opening one is meant to feel like.
Eight seconds, with sound. Our own brand film - the packaging and the register the shop is
built to, rather than a recording of an order going out.
The other box
The Friday Box goes the other way.
The Lucky Box is character goods from Japan and Taiwan, curated here and sent to you in
Britain. The Friday Box is a weekly drop of British character goods, sent to buyers in
Taiwan.
Two names, two directions, one house. It is written in Traditional Chinese, because that is
who it is for.
